Molea starred for Solomon Warriors during the club’s recently-completed double-winning season but has decided to move abroad to sharpen his skills ahead of Warriors’ debut appearance in the OFC Champions League.
He showed signs he is likely to be an important figure for Seveners by getting off the mark straight away, levelling the scores at 1-1 in his debut against Spirit 08 in the Vanuatu premier league on Thursday.
Molea struck on the hour mark to haul his new side back into the contest after Owen Sely had given Spirit an early lead in the 14th minute.
But the import’s goal was ultimately in vain as substitute Manu Alfred hit home a winner for Spirit in injury time.
Sharp-shooting Molea will spend three months with Seveners and it is hoped by both clubs that the move will be the first of many more.
“He is the first international import player for Seveners and this will mark the start of a relationship between the clubs,” Warriors team manager Dr Kenton Sade says.
Molea will return to Warriors to prepare for the OFC Champions League and will be joined in the squad by Gagame Feni, who announced his intention to stay with the club after scoring the winning goal in the S-League championship final earlier this month.
“The plan is for me to remain with Warriors for the next season and I’m really looking forward to starting the next campaign with the team,” the 20-year-old says.
Feni has spent the majority of his promising career in New Zealand and was with eventual national league champions Waitakere United last season. But he saw limited playing time at the Auckland-based outfit and returned home, where his impressive form has caught the eye of Bonitos bosses Jacob Moli and Laurent Papillon.
The pair have named a wide national training squad of 40 players as Solomon Islands prepare to take on Tahiti, New Caledonia and New Zealand in Stage 3 of Oceania qualifying for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
“Playing for my home country in the World Cup qualifiers is another thing I’m looking forward to,” Feni says.
The Bonitos will host Tahiti in the first round of Stage 3 on September 7 at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
