HONIARA – Kossa clinched a 4-1 victory against Naha FC in their final game of the Honiara DJ League on Tuesday at Lawson Tama.

The victory kept them in contention for a place in the proposed ‘Super 8 Challenge’ set to kick off after the DJ league ends.

Kossa started well with Captain Gideon Omokirio nodding in a James Naka free kick midway through the first half.

Naha defended well in the first half and were quick to close down Kossa’a danger trio of Reginald Davani, James Naka and Joe Luwi.

Kossa came out a more composed side in the second half and found many more openings in the naha defense. Paul Wale, Naka and Luwi combined sweetly for Kossa’s second goal of the afternoon.

Naha’s replacement goal keeper – former national youth goalkeeper Tibon Oge watched in disbelief as Wale cleverly chipped him after receiving a good through ball to make it two.

Naha responded strongly and were denied by the woodwork as they sort to stage a comeback.

As the match wore on fatigue crept in on both sides as players of both teams struggled to maintain their rhythm.

Kossa’s PNG import Reginald Davani capped off a fine performance when he thumped in from close range after receiving a timely pass from Naka to make it three.

Luwi wrapped up the scoring for KOSSA when he hit a screamer to put the match beyond doubt.

But Naha grabbed a late consolation goal in injury time through its hardworking striker Lawrence Fonaota.
