Currently on loan from Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, his fifth loan stint with a second-tier side since he signed a three-and-a-half year contract in 2009, the former Waikato FC frontman has made a strong impression at the Lions.
On Sunday he scored his fifth goal in three matches, helping Millwall to a 4-1 away victory over Nottingham Forest and extending the club’s unbeaten streak to seven matches.
Berylson says he plans to try and negotiate a deal with the Baggies after Christmas.
“Chris is someone we’ve known about for years,” he says.
“West Brom will have to make a decision as to whether they want to sell him or not and set a price. Hopefully, we can meet in the middle.
“Chris has fitted in great. I hope he likes being here. Everybody knows I’ve always wanted us to be strong up front. He’d be great to have and it’s something I’m always thinking about.”
Berylson’s expression of interest will be pleasing news for Wood who, having previously admitted he would consider joining the Lions on a full-time deal, now says he definitely wants the move to happen.
“It’s something that I want to do. I’m playing football here and I’m enjoying it. I’m creating chances and scoring goals which is the main thing,” Wood says.
“The boys have made me feel welcome and I’ve got on well with them, so I don’t see why not.”
Wood is off contract with West Brom at the end of this season and, as well as his current spell at Millwall, has also been on loan with Barnsley, Brighton, Bristol City and Birmingham City.
