The much anticipated second leg of the Champion Versus Champion Series between Fiji soccer giants Ba and Lautoka is set for Friday evening at Govind Park in Ba.

Lautoka will host the match in Ba because Churchill Park is still under renovation while Prince Charles Park in Nadi is undergoing maintenance after the severe flooding in the area last month.

Fiji Football Association chief executive officer Bob Kumar added that both districts have agreed to the time and venue because they want the Pillay Garments-sponsored Series to be completed so they can concentrate on the National League matches.

“Lautoka had wanted to host the match in its home ground initially but has agreed to play at Govind Park since the renovations at Churchill Park is expected to take more time.”

“The match has been set for Friday as both teams are also scheduled to play in National League matches in the weekend,” he added.

Ba won the first leg through a third minute goal to striker Osea Vakatalesau and just needs a draw on Friday to reclaim the champion status again after losing the CVC title which it held for 13 seasons to Labasa last year.

Lautoka on the other hand will need to score at least two clear goals in the match to win the CVC title for the first time.

This is Lautoka’s second appearance in the series as the Blues also featured in 2006 after winning the 2005 IDC on their home soil after a lapse of 20 years.

The match kicks off at 7pm.
