The Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) have decided to increase the number of girls in the training squad in preparation for the women’s World Cup qualifiers in April.

After reviewing and assessing the players who are currently in the squad with the assistance of OFC women’s development officer Connie Selby, PNGFA through their technical chairman Joe Turia, have decided to increase the number of players in the train-on squad.

He said the additional players had been identified and their addition has bolstered the resources available ahead of April’s tournament.

The plans are to have training camps in Port Moresby and a a two-week tour of Brisbane, Australia, in March before the April tournament.

A training session will take place at Sir John Guise stadium for players based in Port Moresby.

The additional players selected for by the PNGFA include Cathy Saliau, Grace Abaijah, Julie Alau, Samantha Peninsa, Lydia Barnabas, Kahsol Posman, Regina Suwi, Patricia Lohga, Tokoi Nori, Louise Posin, Miriam Lanta, Diane Tasion, Judith Sauto, Margaret Binamo, Emma Locket, Daslyn Siniu, Flosey Makeu, Helen Baki, Melanie Modegai, Roxen Komeng, Samantha Guria, Tio Baki and Francisca Abraham.
