AUCKLAND – For the past 25 years Koru Care New Zealand has been working to bring some joy into the lives of seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children in New Zealand.
To mark its 25th Anniversary in 2008 Koru Care New Zealand is taking 50 very special children to Los Angeles in October.
The trip is the 42nd overseas trip conducted by Koru Care New Zealand and is estimated to cost in excess of $300,000.
Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) General Secretary Tai Nicholas said that OFC was delighted to help promote the event.
"Koru Care has a wonderful track record of helping make children’s dreams come true in much the same way as the sport of football can.
I’m delighted that OFC can help raise awareness of this charity auction.
There are some wonderful football items up for grabs and I am certain they will fetch outstanding prices."
This major fundraising event for the year is a 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Charity Auction, sponsored by Mazda Foundation to be held at the Crowne Plaza Auckland on Saturday 20 September.
It is anticipated that more than 300 guests will attend an evening of glitz and glamour, raising funds for the trip to Los Angeles.
The live auction will be limited to 30 items and the trust has assembled a great range of high quality items, including some world class sporting, music and movie memorabilia.
The auction list contains some world class items including the following soccer items:
A Pele signed and framed 1960s Brasil jersey complete with photos of the beautiful game’s greatest ever player
A 2007/08 Manchester United jersey signed by the team and framed – winners of the European Champions League and English Premier League
A signed and framed Brasil soccer jersey with photos. Signed by some of the greatest names in the game
Tickets are still available to the dinner at $175 a single or $1,575 for a table of 10 and phone bidding is available for people who can’t make the Dinner.

All funds raised will be used to send 50 special needs children to Disneyland on a Koru Care “trip of a lifetime”.
At the conclusion of the live auction musical entertainment and dancing will entertain those who wish to stay until the wee small hours.
