Brebner joins New Zealand Football with more than 20 years experience in sales and commercial positions including stints with TVNZ and IMG – which included sponsorship sourcing for major sporting events including V8 Supercars, the New Zealand Open golf tournament and Ironman New Zealand.
New Zealand Football CEO Andy Martin said Brebner’s appointment is a key one for an organisation looking to enliven its position in the New Zealand sporting landscape.
“As the truly global game in New Zealand, football is blessed with a wide base of support and participation in this country,” Martin said.
“Having that kind of platform makes football an attractive product and it will be Steve’s role to strengthen our commercial offering to both existing and future partners while also exploring new
opportunities and revenue streams which we can feed directly back into the delivery of our game.
“His role will be absolutely vital in communicating and sharing our vision for the game with our community.”
Brebner will begin his new position on September 15.
