The new partners – Air Rarotonga, CITC Coca Cola, Sava Ltd and Budget Rent-a-Car – were hosted by the Cook Islands Football Federation (CIFA) at a luncheon at Tamarind House last week, during which their backing of the tournament was confirmed.
The national youth championship is set to take place from April 16 to 23 and will provide an action-packed week for young players to showcase their skills and challenge for the title.
The sponsorship of the four businesses will assist in the staging of the event, which is held once every two years.
In two weeks’ time, hundreds of budding young stars from the Southern Cook Islands, Atiu, Aitutaki, Mitiaro, Mauke and Mangaia, including the three Vaka’s on Rarotonga, Te Au O Tonga, Takitumu and Puaikura will come together at the CIFA complex in Matavera for the fifth edition of the championship.
CIFA President Lee Harmon is very grateful to the businesses for their support and believes their involvement will be of great benefit.
“The Cook Islands Football Association is delighted that these four companies have come on board to partner us with this youth event,” he says.
“Their assistance will be a boost to the tournament in terms of organisation and publicity.”
