The revamped website, available at www.cookislandsfootball.com , was unveiled at the end of last month and contains all the latest news, photographs and other information relating to football in the nation.
“We are delighted with this new website,” CIFA president Lee Harmon says. “No doubt it will benefit us and those who visit it. The layout looks bright and attractive.”
The site was developed by New Zealand company Stay in Front Inc and follows the same design as the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) website.
The new format uses the Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), which allows information to be shared easily with OFC and other member associations.
The CIFA is the second association to have its website re-jigged and the changes come hot on the heels of those at the Samoa Football Federation, which unveiled its new site in March.
The plan is for all OFC member associations to adopt similar formats to that of the original OFC website, and it is hoped the new sites will all be launched by January next year.
OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas says improving the confederation’s internet presence is an important part of its media and communications plans.
“It will take each member association to another level. All the countries now have a media officer, which they didn’t have before, and are more capable of selling the game, not only in print media but on the web as well,” he says.
“The aim is for Oceania to be like one big happy family and have the ability to share information back and forth. We want to target at least three stories a week per member association. That’s 33 stories, plus the ones being produced by OFC. We could have 40 stories a week, that’s a pretty good volume. There’s been a huge change already – we’ve gone from having very little coverage on the web to where we are now.”
The CIFA has also followed OFC by creating a page on social networking website Facebook.
