The Moses Toata-coached side earned the S-League title after finishing top of the table in April and continued their dominance with a 2-0 victory over fierce rivals Western United in the final of the championship series on Sunday.
The pair of successes rendered midfielder Molea almost speechless in the immediate aftermath but he managed to get out enough sentences to explain the impact of his side’s achievements.
“There are no words to describe and express how happy we are to win both the S-League and the championship series,” he said at the final whistle of the Western win.
“We have worked so hard to achieve this and our hard work has indeed paid off. We have proven to ourselves, our families, the fans and the country that anything is possible when you dedicate your heart, mind and soul into something you want to achieve.”
Molea’s admiration for the efforts of the Warriors squad was echoed by coach Toata, who had to wait for the championship series triumph after the postponement of the tournament due to Honiara’s hosting of the OFC Nations Cup in June.
“The boys worked very hard in preparing for the championship, especially after the long break, so they deserved to win,” he said.
Toata also thanked the fans for their support and urged the country to get behind the Warriors as they go on to represent Solomon Islands in the 2013 OFC Champions League.
Goals from Karol Kakate and Gagame Feni secured the win over Western, while Real Makira came third with a Nicholas Muri brace inspiring them to a comfortable 6-0 victory against Kossa.
The success of Solomon Warriors has not gone unnoticed with nine of the players named by technical advisor Laurent Papillon in an extended Bonitos national squad for Stage 3 of the Oceania qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Feni and Molea have both been included and are joined by Hardies Aengari, Tome Faisi, Jeffery Bule, Joachim Waroi, Emmanuel Poila, Silas Seda and Paul Huia.
A team will be drawn from that group to face Tahiti in the opening round of Stage 3 on September 7 at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
