AUCKLAND – FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the inaugural FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup New Zealand 2008 invite media to attend a pre-tournament press conference at 10:00 on Friday, 24 October 2008, at the Hyatt Regency Auckland.
FIFA Head of Women’s Competitions Tatjana Haenni, CEO of the Local Organising Committee of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Chris Simpson, Coach of New Zealand’s U-17 national team Paul Temple, Coach of Canada’s U-17 national team Bryan Rosenfeld, Captain of New Zealand’s U-17 national team Bri Fisher and Captain of Canada’s U-17 national team Bryana McCarthy will be present in the opening press conference.
The inaugural FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup kicks off on Tuesday, 28 October 2008 at 19:00 at North Harbour Stadium, with the opening match between New Zealand and Canada.
The 16 teams that qualified for New Zealand are Ghana and Nigeria (Africa), Japan, Korea DPR and Korea Republic (Asia), Canada, Costa Rica and USA (North and Central America), hosts New Zealand (Oceania), Brazil, Colombia and Paraguay (South America), and Denmark, England, France and Germany (Europe).
