Pansa Women are one win away from winning the Football Federation of American Samoa’s 2008 women’s Senior League division with one game remaining on their schedule.

They are off this weekend but will return to the field next week Saturday, the closing of the 2008 Senior League, to play against Brave Heart.

At the moment they are leading the Tafuna Jets by two points, 21-19, with the latter playing their last match of the season this Saturday against Green Bay. Should the Jets beat Green Bay this Saturday, they will jump ahead of Pansa Women but that lead may not last with the way things have been going for Brave Heart.

They have forfeited their last two games because of a failure to field a full squad or the minimum number of players (7) required to start an official match. If this turns out to be the case next week Saturday, it will be a cake walk for Pansa Women to collect the title for the women’s division.

The winner gets a perpetual trophy sponsored by Panamex Pacific, $500, another trophy from the soccer association and three soccer balls. Second place gets $300, a trophy from FFAS and two soccer balls while third gets $150, an FFAS trophy and two soccer balls. A most valuable player for the women’s division will also be announced after the regular schedule of games for Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008 at Pago Park.

Only one women’s match was played on Veterans Day (Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008) at Pago Park with the Jets beating Pago Youth 3-1.

This Saturday, the Jets play Green Bay on Field 1 at 8:30 a.m.; and at 12:30 p.m., Fagasa Youth takes on Black Roses (1) and Kip McGrath plays Pago Girls (2). The other scheduled game is a forfeiture in favor of Renegades against Lion Heart.
