The website is located at www.pyasc.org and is the latest exciting development in the progress of PYASC as the countdown to the second-ever event continues.
The site was developed by IDesign Media, an Auckland-based multimedia design and website development agency, and can be accessed directly or via the official OFC website at www.oceaniafootball.com
It features key information about the upcoming conference which will be held in New Caledonia from 2-7 December, 2013 including text summaries, objectives and photos, as well as a breakdown of the progress of the projects begun by the 25 Pacific countries who participated in the previous conference in Auckland, New Zealand in 2010.
The themes and objectives the conference will focus on are all included on the new site, including key information about the social issues that youth are facing in the Pacific and a definition of Sport for Development and how sport can be used to respond to those same social issues.
Also provided are links to the three co-conveners of the 2013 edition of the conference – OFC, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the New Caledonia Government – as well as important partners such as the Australian Government, FIFA, Commonwealth Secretariat, Pacific Youth Council and the Organisation of Sports Federations of Oceania (OSFO).
PYASC CEO and OFC Head of Social Responsibility and International Relations Franck Castillo is pleased the conference now has an online presence of its own and sees the launching of the website as a result of the success of the Pacific Youth and Sports Conference, which last month came under the patronage of the United Nations Office for Sport for Development and Peace.
The site follows hot on the heels of other developments in the PYASC communications plan, which has included the launching of a Facebook page and Twitter account, as well as the production of a new information brochure.
“Communication is crucial today,” Castillo says. “The PYASC website will give us the opportunity to keep participants, community leaders and other interested parties up-to-date on the 2013 event as well as the state of projects developed during the previous conference.
“It is also a way for us to acknowledge our strategic partners, the Australian Government, FIFA, OSFO, the Pacific Youth Council and the governments of the Pacific for their tremendous support, as well as the 2013 PYASC co-conveners OFC, the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and the New Caledonia Government.”
Information about all the countries in the Pacific which are involved in PYASC is featured on the new website, with their unique social issues and a profile of their Head of Delegation. The website provides an opportunity to further explain to youth, participants and partners the objectives of the 2013 conference and how sport can be used to improve their lives.
