Kaltack headed to New Zealand to hone his craft at the Waterside Karori club and has already played several matches in the Capital Premier League for the Wharfies.
The 18-year-old is yet to taste defeat for his new club, the Waterside first team having drawn each game in which Kaltack has featured.
He has settled in well to his new surroundings and is happy with his rate of development so far.
“I’m getting better and better in each match,” Kaltack says. “There is still a lot to improve on but that will come with time.”
The talented teen has no regrets about making the move and is looking forward to enjoying the remainder of the winter season in Wellington.
“I believe it was good for me to come overseas,” he says.
“I didn’t know what condition I would be in but so far, so good and I am very happy that my host family are looking after me well, as are the other players and coaches. My time in Wellington so far has been positive and I hope to constantly improve.”
Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) president Lambert Maltock paid a visit to New Zealand this month and watched Kaltack play last week. Maltock is pleased with the progress the youngster has made and says he has already carved out a good reputation for himself at the club.
“Waterside regard Brian as a key player in defence because he is very strong and fights until the end in each match,” Maltock says.
“I think Brian has gained a lot of respect from the team and I am really proud of his performances.”
In a massive boost for the progression of his career, Kaltack has been invited by Wellington Phoenix and All Whites coach Ricki Herbert to train with the Phoenix and will join the team for a session every Monday.
“It’s a golden opportunity for him to train with some great players,” Maltock says.
Kaltak earned the switch to New Zealand after standing out as one of the best defenders at the OFC U-20 Championship in Auckland during April.
He has landed at an ideal club to continue his development. The director of football at Waterside Karori is former Scottish professional Ian Porteous, who played under the legendary Alex Ferguson at Aberdeen, while the club has produced several All Whites, such as Simon Elliott, Duncan Oughton and Tim Brown.
