Papua New Guinea football Association will conduct a junior soccer coaching certificate course in Wabag early next month. This course has been proposed by the Wabag School Soccer Association after noticing soccer coaching skill needs in their school competition.

According to Wabag School Soccer Coordinator, Mark Sakol, the soccer coaching course will be the first of its kind for Wabag and even for the province. He said the course is open to both male and female who want to take up soccer coaching in their life as soccer is starting to develop very well with primary and elementary schools in the province.

He said Wabag School Soccer has decided to have the course as it is very important for the young generation in the province. More youths are now turning to soccer after and success trip by the Enga U12 team to New Caledonia for the 2008 OFC Youth Festival this year. He said the course will be co-funded by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and member for Wabag Open Honorable Mr. Sam Abal.

“The course is particularly for primary school teachers who are involved in the Wabag School Soccer but invitations were also extended to teachers and schools in the other districts in the Enga province,” he said.

Sakol said 25 teachers have already confirmed their attendance but we are expecting more as this is going to be very big for the district and the province as a whole.

He said Elementary school teachers in Wabag have also expressed their interest to attend the course.

Sakol added that the course is not only for school teachers but anyone person interested can register and attend the course. PNGFA will award junior soccer coaching certificates to the successful attendants.
