NAVUA – Nadi has jumped to the top of the New World National Football league in Fiji after coming from behind to beat 10-man Navua 2-1 at Thompson Park on Sunday.

Nadi now sits on 12 points – equal with Labasa – but ahead on goal difference.

The Jetsetters conceded an early goal to the hosts through former Olympian Simione Maikali.

Navua led 1-0 at the break but the visitors regrouped, and developed more structure in their midfield and were rewarded with goals through Uraia Loki and Tevita Cokocokovata to snatch the win.

Olympian Rajneel Chand was shown a red card by referee Bobby Dave for an off the ball incident.

Nadi president Jiten Kumar said while the win was a boost for the club, the side couldn’t look too far ahead.

"Nadi had not won at Thompson Park for some time and the result is a boost,” said kumar.

“However, we are not looking too far ahead because there are a number of matches left and this includes matches against Labasa and Ba."

Nadi will host Labasa in it’s next match at Churchill Park as Prince Charles Park in closed due to repair works.

Navua soccer chief Anil Sharma said the team didn’t capitalize on its opportunities and had made it hard upon themselves.

Suva missed out on an opportunity to jump into first spot as the side went down 1-0 to Viva Rewa on Friday night at the Post Fiji Stadium.

A lone Lisala Vetaukula "Bond" goal was enough for the win. Suva is now third on the table with 10 points with Rewa moving into fourth place.

This weekend Labasa play two matches.  The Babasiga Lions who wrestled off the Champion versus Champion title off Ba on Saturday with a 2-0 scoreline will play Nadi and Singh’s Rentals Nadroga.

Lautoka will host Nasinu while Suva faces Tavua at the National Stadium.
