That is the message from Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) technical director Saiyad Ali, who says each player needs to prove their worth.
A 25-member training squad was brought together on Friday to prepare for the tournament, which will be held in Auckland from September 29 to October 8.
But Ali says all of the players are yet to book themselves a seat on the plane to New Zealand.
“Nobody is guaranteed a place just yet,” he says. “It is not up to the coaches to decide but a player to earn the right to don the national jumper.”
A lot of work will be done on the fitness of the squad over the coming weeks.
“The girls are not at a fitness level we want them to be at because they have not been playing,” Ali says.
“They will be working overtime on this area for the next few weeks.”
The Women’s Nations Cup is the preliminary qualifying tournament for the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Fiji and host nation New Zealand will be joined by teams from fellow OFC member associations Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga and Vanuatu.
The sides will be divided into two groups and will play a round robin schedule before the highest-placed teams take part in the semi-finals and final.
There will also be a play-off for third and fourth place.
The winner of the tournament will qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be held in Germany from June 26 to July 17.
New Zealand’s Football Ferns were the OFC representatives at the last Women’s World Cup in China in 2007.
