The main outcomes of the meeting are as follows:
– Women’s football will not be neglected and, in light of this, the board of control has decided that Fiji will participate in the OFC U-20 Women’s Championship and the OFC U-17 Women’s Championship, held in January and April of 2012 respectively in Auckland, New Zealand
– A strong emphasis will be placed on local competitions. Each district will be required to have an U-21 side, a women’s association and regular local tournaments. Any districts which fail to fulfill the requirements will be ineligible to participate in the national league. Further details will be discussed during the next Fiji FA council meeting
– It is noted that a few districts are putting up huge sums for player releases and transfers. The board of control looked into the matter and has decided that a fixed sum for player release or transfer will soon be set. A figure of FJD $5,000 has been suggested as an ideal sum
– The protest filed by Tailevu Naitasiri against Rakiraki has been disallowed. Thus, Tailevu Naitasiri are now required to pay a sum of FJD $200 to Rakiraki
– The disciplinary case of former Fiji FA technical director Saiyad Ali has been deferred. Ali has asked for an extension and the case will now be heard at a later date. Former national team coach Claudio Canosa was not present at the meeting but his disciplinary case was discussed and several issues need to be sorted out before further details are released
– Some district associations are yet to submit their quarterly return. The due date was 30 September 2011. The board of control has decided that the remaining districts will have to submit their returns by 7 November 2011. Any association failing to meet this requirement will face a penalty
– The Fiji FA 2011 awards night will be held on 21 January 2012
– Lautoka coach Imdad Ali has been named head coach of the national men’s U-23 side for the Olympic qualifiers in March 2012 in Fiji. He will be supported by assistant coach Kamal Swamy, currently coach of Tavua
– Matches in the 2012 Fiji FACT and Battle of the Giants tournaments will be played over 90 minutes. These competitions will be further discussed during the next Fiji FA council meeting
– More emphasis will be placed on beach soccer and futsal from next year. The board of control has decided that separate registration will be put in place for players opting to play futsal and beach soccer
– The Champions League will be held from 13-15 January 2012; Fiji FACT in Labasa from 28 June-1 July 2012; Battle of the Giants in Nausori from 23-26 August 2012; and the Inter District Championship in Ba from 10-14 October 2012
– The board of control have proposed that only the winners of the Fiji FA tournaments will participate in the Champions League. The matter will be further discussed during the next Fiji FA council meeting
