The 32-match tournament will be staged exclusively at the 3,600-capacity Tahua To’ata Stadium, located on the beach in the Tahitian capital of Papeete.
The competition is sure to throw up lots of spectacular action and will prove a big draw for fans, who have two types of tickets to choose from: standard and VIP. Standard tickets are available on an individual basis for each evening session, while VIP tickets are sold as packages.
In their desire to make the tournament a celebration of beach soccer, the Local Organising Committee and FIFA are offering fans three different ways of picking up tickets to the event.
People living in Tahiti and the neighbouring island of Moorea can buy their tickets from TIKI Store, situated in the Vaima Centre, in the heart of Papeete, while inhabitants of the other islands in French Polynesia can access theirs from the clubs that form part of the Tahitian Football Association. As for fans elsewhere in the world, they will soon be able to purchase their tickets online at FIFA.com.
“We want this to be an accessible World Cup that everyone can come and enjoy,” said Kevin Kucsera, the LOC’s Head of Ticketing. “Thanks to our distribution network and affordable prices, our ticketing policy will allow a maximum number of people to come and enjoy the party.”
The LOC is also laying on a special shuttle service to allow Moorea residents to come and watch the matches. Packages featuring return ferry tickets and a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup ticket will go on sale on Monday 19 August.
The LOC has also branded the event thanks to an initiative promoting disability sport. On 2 August LOC President Vairani Davio and Henriette Kamia, the President of the French Polynesian Disability Sport Federation, signed an agreement that will see 100 seats being set aside for people of reduced mobility. In a bid to combat social exclusion, the LOC will also be giving the first 100 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup tickets to the French Polynesian disability sport movement.
