The 26-year-old went into a coma following the accident and tragically never recovered.
Tetavahi represented Tahiti at the South Pacific Games in 2007 and has been a key player for AS JT in the Championnat D1 this season.
Nicknamed “Shaolin”, he started playing football at the age of eight at AS Vaiotaha and went on to play for Pueu, AS Pirae and AS JT. In 2009 he played a major role to help AS JT stay in the top division.
Holding a coaching certificate, Tetavahi trained young players in the club and was known for his enthusiasm for the game.
He had an admirable attitude on the field and was always ready to sacrifice himself for the team while off the field he was passionate and always had a smile.
OFC wishes to extend its support to Tetavahi’s family and friends as well as the entire Tahitian football community during this difficult time.
