Jefferson Moura, 20, and Ezequiel Paulo Da Cruz, 22, arrived at Port Vila Stadium to huge fanfare on Saturday following Amicale’s 3-0 victory over Spirit 08.
They are currently taking part in a trial with Amicale in the hope they can join the club for the TVL Premier League and the OFC Champions League in 2013 and, if successful, they will become the first South American players to sign for a Vanuatu club.
Port Vila Football administrator Bong Shem says the arrival of the duo is very exciting.
“It shows that Vanuatu football is really moving forward and we must thank Amicale FC, especially Andrew Leong for his financial support of football,” Shem says.
“Today we can see the TVL Premier League is growing bigger and bigger. Football, or soccer, is really the biggest sport on earth and in Vanuatu. I know that players coming to play here will bring the Vanuatu football standard to another level.”
