The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Executive Committee today suspended the Samoan Football Soccer Federation (SFSF) from OFC after determining that they seriously and repeatedly violated their obligations as a member. The suspension will take immediate effect.

The suspension will be confirmed at the next Congress by a two thirds majority of the votes taken. If it is not confirmed, the suspension is automatically lifted.

The OFC Executive Committee took this decision during their meeting in Auckland after analyzing the critical financial situation of the SFSF and also their failure to comply with their obligation as a member of OFC by disregarding FIFA’s decision to implement the normalization committee. (FIFA Emergency Committee, June 2008)

The executive committee considered that the failure to respect the decision of FIFA and OFC was a serious violation of OFC statutes and the only alternative was suspension.
