OFC President David Chung paid tribute to Dhanji’s contribution to football and the wider community in Fiji.
“Shashi Dhanji was dedicated to the betterment of football in Fiji and his contribution to Fiji FA will be sorely missed,” Chung said.
“On behalf of the Oceania Football community, we offer our deepest condolences to his family during this extremely sad time,” concluded Chung.
Dhanji served for many years on the Fiji FA Finance Committee before stepping into the role of chairman in 2010.
In the past he served as vice-president of the Suva Football Association and more recently held the post of president of the Fiji Gujurati Football Association.
A Justice of the Peace, Dhanji often volunteered his time to pursuits outside of football as well.
He was an executive member of the Fiji Sports Commission, president of the Fiji Blind Society, a board member of Diabetes Fiji and Gujrat Samaj Fiji and a member of the Lions Club of Fiji and FASANOC.
