Markham has worked previously as a newspaper journalist at The Aucklander and the Western Leader and is also a keen footballer, currently playing in the Northern Premier League in Auckland.

The 27-year-old will assist with all matters relating to media and communications as OFC activities continue to increase with various programmes both on and off the field.
OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas says Markham will be a valuable addition to the team.

“Daniel has a comprehensive understanding of football as well as impeccable communications skills so we are delighted to have him on board,” says Nicholas.
“It is certainly an exciting time for football with the FIFA World Cup beginning next month plus regional events such as the OFC Futsal Championship and OFC Women’s Nations Cup to look forward to later this year. We are also making significant progress in the area of media communications across our member associations with the Cook Islands and Samoa recently unveiling brand new websites and Tonga launching their first ever football television show ‘Ton Foot’ last month.”

Markham says he is looking forward to working in football full-time.
“I have been obsessed with the game from a young age so the opportunity to turn that obsession into a career is one that I couldn’t turn down. I am delighted to be joining the OFC team at such an exciting time for football in this part of the world and can’t wait to start work.”
