The match kicks off.

7′ As is the case with most City-United derbies, there have been a couple of strong challenges already, the latest one put in by City midfielder Alex Feneridis which United’s Martin Bullock takes exception to and makes his feelings known
9′ City earn a free kick is a great position near the by-line on the right but the chance is wasted by Morgan, whose delivery fails to beat the first defender
10′ The first real chance of the game arrives when City goalkeeper Jacob Spoonley comes out to deal with a long ball but fails to gather. Waitakere’s Chris Bale gets a foot to it but the ball rolls wide and Bale’s appeals for a penalty are turned down
14′ Waitakere have a free kick about 25 yards out from goal but Bullock’s curled effort sails well over the bar
16′ YELLOW CARD: Alex Feneridis is cautioned for Auckland City
17′ City’s Adam Dickinson puts strike partner Daniel Koprivcic into the box with a lovely slipped pass but his low cross back across the face is blocked

23′ Waitakere are enjoying a spell of pressure but fail to turn the possession into any clear-cut chances
25′ Morgan clips in a free kick for City and the ball is cleared to the edge of the box for Feneridis to try his luck but the midfielder’s volley is blocked

38′ YELLOW CARD: Jack Pelter is cautioned for Waitakere United
39′ Koprivcic is injured in the Pelter challenge and the play is held up while he receives treatement

65′ Dickinson spurns a great opportunity for City when he mistimes his leap and can’t get a good headed connection to an Ian Hogg cross
69′ Chances are still proving very hard to come by and it is looking like one goal might be enough to win it today
