In a thrilling final the Sable Dancers, led by Swiss international and Tiki Toa technical advisor Angelo Schirinzi, upset current Suzuki Swiss League champions Grasshoppers Club Zurich 6-2 to clinch the title.
Three Tiki Toa regulars made it onto the scoreboard, Heimanu Taiarui with the opener followed by Teva Zaveroni and Tearii Labaste, with a number of other members of the national team also taking to the field.
This is the first time in the club’s history that they have won this title, recording some impressive results along the way including a 19-5 victory over BSFC One Way Wohlen and a 15-8 win over Beachkings Emmen. They then beat BSC Chargers Baselland 9-4 in the semi-final to secure their place in the final against the defending champions.
With the Beach Soccer World Cup just around the corner the Tahitians are making the most of their time with the Bern-based club, which currently sits at the top of the Swiss League’s leader board where they hope to stay for the remainder of the season.
The side is currently just one point ahead of BSC Chargers Baselland with 37 and 36 points respectively. Tearii Labaste tops the goal league’s goalscorers with 44 goals, his closest follower has just 32 goals to his name.
