Midfielder Matt Williams and striker Adam Dickinson joined up with the team this week and are set to appear for their new side against Labasa this weekend.
Williams is no stranger to Fiji football or the Navua club. He has represented the team in the past and his last appearance for the southerners was at the 2008 IDC tournament in Ba.
English-born Dickinson has a good goal-scoring record for City and winter club Central United and is likely to be one of the players to watch in the competition.
Navua coach Anil Sharma is delighted to have secured the signatures of the pair.
“Both play competitive football in New Zealand with Auckland City and have featured in the FIFA Club World Cup and O-League so we are expecting a lot from them,” he says.
“Matt has played for us before and is well-versed with our style of football while Adam is new. We have heard a lot about him and want to see him in action.
“Navua has been facing problems with its midfield this season after the departure of players like Alvin Avinesh, Salesh Kumar and Pita Bolaitoga and these two players should cover that up well.”
Sharma says the squad has prepared thoroughly and he is confident of starting the campaign with a win on Sunday afternoon.
“Labasa is a great team and I have full respect for them. But come the match day we should be able to defeat them and register three points.”
The clash between Navua and Labasa will kick off at 1.30pm.
In other INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants fixtures on Sunday, Nasinu will play Lautoka at noon, Suva will meet Nadroga at 3pm, while defending champions Ba will face Rewa at 4.30pm.
