Unfortunately the club could not retain their spot and have been relegated to Ligue 2 for the 2013/14 season – a move that is already paying off for the young Caledonian.
On Friday night (local time) Gope-Fenepej was named in coach Jean-Marc Furlan’s starting line-up for the Ligue 2 season opener against Niort.
While unlucky not to find the back of the net before coming off at half-time, starting the match was a huge coup for the young striker who struggled to break into the first team last season.
With the season only just underway Gope-Fenepej will now be looking to cement a regular spot in the team as they search for the Ligue 2 title and promotion to Ligue 1.
