After a 4-2 victory in March saw them take the Challenge Federal, they were looking for the double when they travelled to Poindimié on Saturday.
Knowing they faced a challenge in Houaïlou, who won their third consecutive Super Ligue title this season, Olympique were soon on the back foot as Mainon Kaouwi sent a shot from deep on the left past goalkeeper Ronan Euzon.
It was not until just before half-time that Olympique could equalise through Vincent Maihol.
In the second period both teams came out firing, exchanging shot-for-shot before the turning point finally arrived in the 27th minute.
It was this moment that Maihol chose to slalom from right to left through Houaïlou’s defence to slot the ball between the posts – marking his second of the night and effectively sealing the cup for Olympique.
With just over three minutes remaining in the match Guilleman Pourouda was sent-off following a second yellow leaving Houaïlou down one man – and unable to make a comeback.
Olympique captain Euzon says his side fought hard to earn the win.
“It still doesn’t seem real to me,” Euzon says.
“I think the title is deserved by everyone for their work this season, particularly the work done by the technical staff.
“It was probably our defensive organisation that made the difference for us. We were challenged like never before at this level – bravo to the players.”
Houaïlou player-coach Steeve Laigle says he knew it would be a close match.
“It was a great final, we were pretty close because we played really well,” he says.
“But Olympique did not steal their victory. For us it has been a great season and the Super Ligue runners-up proved their valour in winning the Coupe de Calédonie.”
Olympique coach William Bret was impressed by the display from his charges against a tough opponent.
“The two teams were very close to one another making it a difficult match as per usual between Olympique and Houaïlou,” Bret says.
“This will remain one of the best seasons since the club’s creation.”
