The five-day FIFA Women’s Coaching Course will conclude today with each of the participants, representing the most of the local districts, having updated their knowledge and skills.
OFC Women’s Football Development Officer Nicola Demaine is the FIFA Instructor running the course and says what has stood out for her is the significant progress made by a number of coaches since she first saw them in 2012.
“The course has a focus on youth with these coaches most likely to work with U-14 and U-16 girls in the future.”
Fiji FA Technical Director Ravinesh Kumar says having a course of this nature is a real boost to the development of football in Fiji.
“I heartily thank and welcome Nicola to our country and with her, our Fiji football lovers will enhance their education and knowledge and this will be a step ahead for all the participants,” Kumar stated at the opening of the course.
“At the end of the course we hope you will gain as much as you can and pass this knowledge back to your district and the country.”
One of the participating coaches Mereani Moceituba of Rewa said she is thrilled with the course modules and believes it would provide a major boost to women’s football development in the country.
“I want to thank FIFA and the Fiji FA for organising this course for us because we have learned a lot during the time we have spent toghete and I am feeling technically revamped,” she says.
“We have learned some new modern tactics that I feel will help us in developing good players in the future.”
