The U-14, U-16 and U-19 sides are all competing in their respective divisions of the Toyota Youth Cup, a tournament that brings together the finest young players in the country.
The U-14 category will see AS Wet take on defending champions Entente Sportive de Wetr while the other semi-final features a clash between AS Magenta and Hienghène Sport.
Entente Sportive de Wetr are also involved in the U-16 semi-finals, as are their U-14 opponents AS Wet. Entente Sportive de Wetr will face AS Mont-Dore while AS Wet have a meeting with JS Tieta.
AS Grand Nord will not get the chance to defend their title as they have already been knocked out.
There will also be a new winner in the U-19 division as champions Ravel Sport likewise failed to qualify for the semi-finals, leaving the door open for four other sides to bring the trophy home to their province.
AS Magenta will meet FC Auteuil in one semi-final while the other clash will pitch CO Main Noire against a team comprised of three clubs – SC Drehu, AS Kirikitr and JS Traput.
Fédération Calédonienne de Football youth football manager Mathieu Delcroix expects the matches to be well supported and believes those that turn up will not be left disappointed.
“The Toyota Youth Cup is a great showcase of the talent of the young players in New Caledonia,” he says.
“It is fantastic to see youth football being well followed by good crowds and I am sure we will see some spectacular games again this year.”
Delcroix has also confirmed that the finals in each age group will be held at the Stade Numa Daly, the impressive national stadium in Noumea.
“I am sure the players will enjoy that particular moment,” he says.
The finals day has been pencilled in for November 20.
