Tavua had lodged a protest against Navua following an incident during the Super Premier League season which was denied by the Fiji FA.
Following that decision the club sought arbitration and on Friday Judge Jiten Singh found in Tavua’s favour, awarding them three points and lifting them off the bottom of the table and out of the relegation position.
Savusavu, whose own protest had earlier seen them jump ahead of Tavua on the table, now find themselves back in contention for relegation and facing an encounter with Premier Division winners Tailevu Naitasiri.
Fiji FA chief executive officer Bob Kumar says following Friday’s decision the first match in the promotion-relegation series between Tavua and Tailevu Naitasiri, which was scheduled for Sunday at Garvey Park, has been postponed.
“Due to the short notice, we have decided to call off the match this weekend and give Savusavu some time to prepare for the clash.”
A new date for the series to begin has yet to be announced.
