NOUMEA – AS Magenta continued its surge toward the Championnat Super Ligue title after an exciting 3-2 win over arch-rivals AS Mont Dore at Stade Numa Daly at the weekend.

The defeat left AS Mont Dore in third spot trailing leaders Magenta by five clear points as defending champions JS Baco kept up the pace after grinding out a tough 1-0 victory over
struggling AS Temala.

AS Lossi has bounced back from their disappointing defeat to AS Magenta last weekend by thrashing lowly ACB Poya 5-2 at Stade Numa Daly.

Lossi’s ruthlessness in front of goal continues to be matched by their generosity in defence with ACB Poya able to double its tally of goals for the season despite losing.

The victory for newly promoted AS Lossi will be useful in two weeks time when the current Coupe de Nouvelle Caledonienne holders will set aside their Super Ligue commitments to
participate in the French Cup.

In the most exciting clash of the fifth round of Super Ligue action bottom-placed AS Thio Sports earned their first points of the season after playing out an end-to-end thrill fest
with FC Gaitcha at Stade Pentecost A.

FC Gaitcha exchanged the lead several times with AS Thio Sports with the match finally ending 4-4. The draw earns AS Thio Sports a valuable two points and keeps FC Gaitcha’s hopes of
catching AS Mont Dore and JS Baco alive.

AS Magenta skipper Michel Hmae fends off a challenge from an ACB Poya defender during a 2-0 victory
